A message for our stakeholders - COVID-19 Response

Yesterday, March 17, 2020, Gov. Reynolds issued a State of Public Health Disaster Emergency.  “These are unprecedented times and the state of Iowa will do whatever is necessary to address this public health disaster,” said Gov. Reynolds. 

Linn County Public Health activated its Incident Command System. Our focus has been and will continue to be responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Our office is closed to the public through March 31, which may be modified as necessary.  While staff will available during operating hours from 8 am to 4:30 pm M-F, they will be performing their respective duties within the Incident Command System.   This may result in delays in responding to your specific needs.  However, we are committed during this state of emergency to maintain channels of communication with the public including industry, businesses, and institutions.

The following means are available to continue conducting business with the Air Quality Branch: 

·         Submit all construction (Authorization to Install and Permit to Operate) applications electronically.  Send to the following email addresses:;;; and

·         All non-essential meetings have been canceled. All meetings will be held via teleconference. Visit the Linn County Air Quality website  to contact a member of the Air Quality Branch.

·         Any complaints related to outdoor air pollution will be handled by phone (call 319-892-6000) or use the email.

A public hotline has been established for Iowans with questions about COVID-19. The line is available 24/7 by calling 2-1-1 or 1-800-469-2211.
